Hacienda Guachipelin resort is located in Liberia, very close to Rincon de la Vieja National Park. The accommodation is not cheap, but it’s a good choice if you want to do some activities because they are included in the reservation. Normally booking these activities independently is more expensive.

The roads are good, actually, they have funded them, so you can make it even with a Fiat Punto. Once you are there you can leave the car in several parking lots in the resort.

The accommodations are semi-detached rooms along the hotel’s site. The cheapest ones cost 105$, but it would depend on the season you go as well as how busy it is.

As I have mentioned before, one of the main benefits of staying in these kinds of accommodations is the bunge of activities that are included. Hacienda Guachipelin offers some of them for free, but you will have to pay for some others. Here you have a list with some of them:

• Las Chorreras Waterfall (Free): It’s a twin waterfall that creates a natural sky blue pool due to the volcanic activity. You have more information on this post.

• A horse ride (35$): You can go to Las Chorreras waterfall by horse for an additional price of 35$.

• The Oropéndola Waterfall (Free): It’s a 25 m high with a suitable pool for swimming. You will have to cross a hanging bridge. More info here.

• The red ponds (Free): On the side of Río Blanco there is an interesting lava rock formation in red and white. It’s made of volcanic minerals. From the lobby of the hotel takes 30 minutes by foot.

• Río Negro Waterfalls (Free): You will see 4 waterfalls along this 30’ hike. The landscape is very particular, the water of the river looks black.

• Hot springs and mud bath (Free): Different temperature hot spring ponds in the middle of nature. You can also do mud therapy.

• Animals sightseeing (Free): In the resort you can find monkeys and a wide variety of birds, especially in the morning. Hearing all those animal sounds is magical.

• Río negro tubing (55$): 5 km going down the river, level 2 rapids.
• Ziplines, canyoning tour (60$): At Río Blanco you will be able to enjoy 7 ziplines, a hanging bridge, two tarzan swings, a controlled 20 meters rapel, a via ferrata and climbing.
• Canyoning in waterfalls (65$): Climb rocks, rappelling and jump into waterfalls.
• Bike tour (45$): The rental cost is 45$ / 2 hours. There are some routes around the hotel, from beginning level to high level.

It’s a good choice If you want to visit some waterfalls and go to hot springs. It will cost less than 60€/person and you have the accommodation and the activities included.
