The Dinh Ba Thuy Long Thanh Mau Temple is a popular cultural and religious attraction in Phu Quoc. It’s a Buddhist temple that was built in the 19th century and it’s dedicated to Thanh Mau, the mother goddess and protector of the seas in Vietnamese mythology.

You can find it at the center of the island, on the east coast, next to the harbor of Bach Dang Park. You can easily reach it on a scooter and leave it anywhere around the temple. In fact, you will see many scooters parked on the sidewalks.

The temple is relatively small but famous for its detailed architecture, decorated interior, colorful murals and sculptures. You will also see a lot of offerings left by locals, such as fruit or flowers.

In the second lunar month of the year (February or March), the Thanh Mu festival takes place in this temple. Locals and tourists participate in traditional dancing, drumming and singing activities.

According to legend, the temple is home to a giant clam that guards a precious pearl. The clam is said to only open its shell during the night of the Thanh Mau Festival, allowing visitors to catch a glimpse of the pearl's glow.
