Dafni Beach is a peaceful beach known for its crystal-clear waters and the cliff it lies beneath. Additionally, it stands out for its importance as a nesting site for the caretta caretta turtles.
How to get there
It is located in the southeast of Zakynthos, about 30 minutes by car from Zakynthos town. The road is quite good until you take the exit from the main road. From then on, it becomes narrower, steeper, and in some sections, it turns into a dirt road. Nevertheless, if you drive carefully, you can make it even with a Fiat Punto.
You can leave your car in a dirt parking lot here (10’ walking from the beach). If it’s full, you can also try to park on one of the sides of the road.
Dafni beach
It is a long beach with pebbles and some patches of fine sand. It is a protected beach within the Zakynthos National Marine Park. This makes it a very quiet place where you won’t find water attractions or parties. However, in high season, there can be too many people, and they could even not keep a sufficient distance from the turtle nests.
Sea conditions are usually good and the slope is gentle, which makes it a beach quite frequented by families. Still, we recommend wearing water shoes for entering and exiting the water due to the possibility of stepping on rocks.
If there are no currents and you go a bit further in, you might spot some turtles, so don’t forget your snorkel.
There are several beach bars and greek tavernas(only open in the summer season) next to the beach where you can grab a snack or a cocktail. Additionally, they offer sunbeds and umbrellas services (free if you purchase something). On the beach, you will also find toilets.
Keep in mind that beach access is prohibited at night and the area closest to the cliff is often frequented by nudists.
It is a very beautiful beach; however, in high season, it can lose all its charm.
