Charco Verde beach - La Palma

How to get there

It’s located in the southwest of the island, a 20-minute drive from Los Llanos. You’ll need to take the new road built after the volcanic eruption in 2021. The road is in good condition, so getting there shouldn’t pose any problem. There are two areas where you can park for free, here or here. The beach is quite accessible from the parking lot via a paved path, which will only take you a couple of minutes to walk.

Charco Verde beach

It’s a long black sand beach, about 200 meters in length, divided into two sections by a rocky promontory. The shoreline is rocky, so it’s recommended to wear water shoes. Due to its easy access, it has become a somewhat popular beach.

The beach offers amenities like restrooms, showers, two beach volleyball courts, a lifeguard, and a beach bar where you can grab something to eat or drink. Additionally, several umbrellas (free of charge) are spread out along the beach, though it's worth mentioning that they are often taken.

Besides the beach itself, there is a small natural cave with two entrances (here). You can walk there from the beach, although it’s a bit hidden and hard to find. The cave stands out for the pinkish hue of the rocks, making it quite a picturesque spot.

Sunsets from the beach, like most places along the west coast, are stunning. The warm tones of the setting sun contrast beautifully with the black sand, creating a striking visual mix.

In the surrounding area, you can visit the Caños de fuego interpretation center, an educational center focused on volcanic geological formations. We also recommend the Astronomical Viewpoint of Llano del Jable.
