Caño Island is located in the Pacific Ocean, 50 km from Uvita and 38 km from Corcovado.

It's one of the best diving spots in Costa Rica and in the world. Among the fauna, you will find many White tip sharks, corals, sting rays, crown of thorns starfish, morays, garden eels, giant lobsters , parrot fish, trigger fish, puffer fish, seahorses or turtles, among others.

You can reach this island leaving from either Uvita or Bahía Drake. The contact I'm sharing is Costa Rica Dive and Surf (from Uvita), they are well organized and very professional. You leave early in the morning and go back at 16-17. The boat journey takes 1h 20'. After the two dives, they give you some lunch. The parking is easily reachable by car, the roads are good, you can make it even with a Fiat Punto you can make it.

The groups are made up of 5-6 people. There are different spots with different depths, normally, you will go with a group of your level (same certification, number of dives...). The spot is ok for beginners.

You will not have a 15 liters tanks, they only work with tanks of 12 liters .

The water temperature range is between 23º and 30ºC. Visibility is often quite good.

You will need the DAN insurance. You can get it there directly.

You can't visit the island, and only one side is available for diving. So you will not find "domingueros", only divers.

If you are lucky, you can see Humpback Whales and dolphins during the journey.

If you like diving you can't miss it. If you are a pro and want something more adventurous, you can try in Coco Island (hammer shark, tiger shark, whale shark). However, it's way farther, actually, you can't do it in one day.
