Hanging Bridges Mistico Park

There are many hanging bridge parks in Costa Rica. Most of them can be found around the Arenal volcano and Monteverde. Mistico Park, which is one of the most famous, is located 30 minutes by car from La Fortuna. The road is in a good state and crosses the dam that creates the lake at the feet of the volcano. You can make it even with a Fiat Punto.

Although it's crowded, the parking lot is huge, so you will easily find a place to leave the car.

You will spend about 2-3 hours walking roughly 3.2kms. There is also a shorter alternative of 1.9km.

There are 18 bridges along the trail. The lowest one is at 1.5m from the floor and the highest one is at 55m. Regarding the length, the shortest one is 5m long while the longest one is close to 100m long. Most of them are built on a metallic structure.

As mentioned before,the park is very popular, and you will most likely have to wait before crossing several bridges as there is a maximum number of persons allowed on each bridge at the same time.

In addition to the bridges, there is a hummingbird garden (good luck with that, we could barely see two). You can also see monkeys eating in one of the trees and if you are lucky, snakesalong the path. Near the end of the park, there is a small waterfall .

You have the option to book a guided tour that might help to spot animals. There are night tours and bird watching tours as well.

This visit is worth it if walking on hanging bridges was on your must-do list. Otherwise, it’s not that spectacular for its price.
