    Krka National Park is listed as one of the most beautiful locations in the world. It’s located 75 km south of Zadar and 60 km north of Split. Its turquoise lakes and enchanting waterfalls make it one of the most popular and beautiful spots of Croatia. It has two sectors whose accesses are far from each other, so need the car to visit the whole park. The main spots of the park can also be visited with a tourist boat (only available between April and October).

    You can buy the ticket for the whole park or only for a section. The entrance fees of the park vary with the time of the year you are visiting it. At high season the adult all accessible land site pass costs 40€ (7€ in low season). It’s worth mentioning that students have an important discount. You can check the prices out here.     Roads are good, you can make it even with a Fiat Punto. You will need a car to visit all the areas of the park. Several parking lots are spread along the park. However, the crowds at peak time might create bottlenecks at the exit of the parkings.

    You should take into consideration that you can swim only in certain delimited spots. For example, swimming in Skradinski Buk is not allowed anymore (the famous spot with the waterfalls).

    Among the most interesting spots , the highlight is Skradinski Buk. But you can’t miss Visovac Island, Roški Slap, Manojlovački Slapovi, cueva de Oziđana pećina and Krka monasteryas well.

    Skradinski Buk

    It’s the main spot of the national park. They are the big and famous waterfalls that you have probably seen in many pictures. This is located at the main entrance of the Lozovac sector. You have to leave the car in parking lot. If you didn’t get the tickets online, you can buy them there. From this place there is a bus (1.5€ more) that takes you to the beginning of a circular hike in which you will see the famous waterfalls. If you don’t take the bus, you will have to walk down 20’ on a very steep road. 

    The  The hike is 2 km long through a wooden path in the shade. Along the way you will visit some interesting viewpoints and the remnants of the Krka Hydroelectric plant.

    Next to the waterfalls there is a kiosk where you can buy a drink or snacks.
    Since 2021, swimming there is not allowed.

    Visovac Island

    It’s also a very famous spot. Visovac island has a franciscan monastery. You will have to pay the boat ticket to get there. In front of the island, you will find the best spot for swimming in the park (reachable by car). Here you have the location.

    Roški Slap

    It’s a bunge of very small and consecutive waterfalls (called necklaces by the locals). The last one is bigger and flows into the lake. It’s a bit disappointing since you can’t get closer than 100m to this waterfall and in summer the water flow is very small. In addition to this, swimming is not allowed next to it. Actually, you can only swim in a very small delimited area. There is a 1 km hike to a wooden stand that offers a good view of the necklaces.

    You can also see watermills and weaver’s looms around the area.
    You will find a restaurant that offers to eat on a terrace while having your feet in the river under the shade created by some trees.

    It takes 60 minutes by car from Skradinski Buk. The road is very narrow. You can also get there by boat from Skradinski Buk. The location is here.

    Oziđana pećina cave

    It’s located next to Rosky Slap. You will find an archeological exhibition about the human presence in that area between 5.000 and 1.500 BC. The location is here.

    Manojlovački Slapovi

    It’s the it’s the tallest waterfall of the park (59.6m). You will find it next to the road that connects Knin and Kistanje. It’s surrounded by a forest and a canyon. Nearby you can visit small caves. It’s one of the most secluded and least busy areas of the park. The location is here.

    Krka Monastery

    Krka monastery is an orthodox medieval building located at the river bank. You can take a guided tour of the monastery and the roman catacombs. It takes 25 minutes by car from Roški Slap. You can also get there by boat. The right location is here.

    The park has a unique natural beauty and also offers interesting archeological sites. The most breathtaking landscape is Skradinski Buk. The overcrowding and the restrictions of swimming are the main drawbacks of this paradise.
