Viewpoint and the statue of Our Lady of Loreto in Primosten

This location offers an incredible panoramic view of Primosten, as it does of the sea and the islets around it. In addition to this, at the top, there is the statue of our lady of Loreto.

It’s located 3 km from Primosten. Roads are good, even the last dirt section can be done with a Fiat Punto. You can park almost next to the statue.

As it was said before, at the top of the hill you will find statue of our lady of Loreto. It’s 17.5 m high and it’s said she is protecting Primosten. It’s a reproduction of the Black Madonna of Loretto (Italy). An interesting fact is that many of the sculptures found of Loreto are black. This is because oil lamps and cigarettes blacken it. Since then, most of them have been built in black color, like this one of Primosten.

The view of the islets are incredible. At one side you will see Primosten, Smokvica, Lukovnjak and all the islets in front of Sibenik. On the other one, you can spot the ones next to Rogoznica.

There is a bar next to the statue where you can buy a drink or a snack.

It’s not a very touristy spot, however, you might find people hiking up early in the morning during the high season (6:30 AM!)

The landscape is nice, if you are around the area, a quick stop is worth it.
