    Dugi Otok is one of the biggest and most beautiful islands in Croatia. It’s located 1h 40’ from Zadar by ferry and the price is 5€ per person one way. You can go on the ferry with your car, motorbike or van for an additional cost.

    Check the tickets on this website. The origin is Zadar (Gazenica) and the destination is Brbinj (Dugi Otok). You can buy the tickets online or at the harbor before departing, there are usually plenty of spots available.

    Bear in mind that in some areas you might not have internet connection.

    It’s not a crowded island. You will find the biggest part of the visitors on the northern side, in the camping area next to the Veli Rat lighthouse.

    Sakarun Beach

    It’s a popular sandy beach, crystal clear water and the bottom is made of white fine sand. This idyllic scenery is ideal for swimming but not that good for snorkeling. You can check our more detailed article here.

    Telašćica Nature Park

    Telascica nature park is located at the south of the island. The 64 % of its area is submerged. The views of the islets, the cliffs and the lake are the highlights of the park. Once you are there, you can do some hikes, aquatic sports or go on cruises along the bay. You can access it either by car or by boat. Have further information in our post here.

    Kornati National Park

    The National park encompasses many islets. It can only be visited by boat. Snorkeling and diving are well-worth.

    Dragon’s Eye

    Golubinka cave

    This spectacular sea cave is more than 50 meters long. At the end you can even stand up and rest on a rock. You can make it by swimming or by kayaking. For further information, visit the article here.

    Strašna peć

    You will find stalactites, stalagmites and striking limestone rock formations in this cave. It costs 10€ and you don’t need to book in advance. The visit lasts 30-40 minutes. There are not many parking-lots there. If you are interested, check their website: www.strasnapec.com.

    Shipwreck Michelle

    It's a shipwreck located north of Veli Rat lighthouse. If you are a good swimmer you can try to reach it by yourself (800 m). Otherwise, you can rent a kayak or go on a kayak guided tour .


    As you can see, Dugi can’t be visited in one day… you will need at least 2-3 days. But… It’s worth it!
