    Punta Rata Beach
    Parking (Explanation below)

    9/10 (Very crowded)

    7.75/10

Punta Rata Beach is one of the most popular (and touristy) beaches of Croatia. It's a pebble beach where you can rent sunbeds, sunshades, kayaks, paddle boards or jet skis. It has been listed as one of the best beaches of the world by several prime magazines. It has turquoise water and the unique color combination of the sea, pine trees and the beach makes this place enchanting.

It’s located 25 km south of Omis and it can be reached by taking the “Road 8”. On the way, you will also get to enjoy an astonishing landscape. Once you take the exit, you will drive through some narrow, steep and winding roads. Don’t worry, you can make it even with a Fiat Punto.

Parking near the beach is nigh on impossible. Parking lots around the area are scarce, and in high season, they are full very early in the morning.
There is a parking lot (dirt patches) next to hotel Bluesun whose price is 3€/h. This is usually full, so if you don’t mind walking, we strongly recommend leaving the car at any dirt patch you see next to the road, for instance here, and walk down to the beach.
If doing so, you will have to walk for about 30 minutes (many stairs included). First you will have to go down to Plaza Scit. You can get there walking to Apartment Rustikal, and then going down through a path on the right. Once you are on the beach, you will walk along the shore until you reach Punta Rata.
This stroll is very beautiful and you will see many small but cute beaches on the way.

It must be said that the navigation of Google Maps doesn’t work properly in this area. It says you can drive along the coast from Jakirusa beach to Punta Rata beach through a road called “Put Luke”. This road doesn’t exist. There are no roads along the coast.
It’s true that the satellite view of Google Maps might be useful to find a place to park and to find the way to the beach.

There are some trees that provide some shade. You will also find some kiosks offering drinks and snacks.

It’s a good snorkel spot because of the rocky bottom. We strongly recommend swimming around “Kamen Brela” islet, the most picturesque place in the area.

Near the islet there is another rock from which you can do cliff diving (maximum height 6 meters)

It 's very crowded. If you don’t want to struggle finding a parking spot, you should go early (before 10 am in high season). Otherwise you will find something, but as we have mentioned before, you will have to search and walk.

It’s a very beautiful beach, like many of this area of Croatia. However, it’s too crowded.
