Nature park Telascica is located in Dugi island, at the central part of the Adriatic sea. It’s a bay surrounded by 13 islands and islets, and it contains 6 other islets within the bay itself. Altogether, the park has an extension of 70.50 km2, with 25.95 km2 on Dugi Otok and the neighboring islets, and 44.55 km2 at sea.The bay is located approximately 8 kilometers inland, and in its southern, the widest part, it’s approximately 1.6 kilometers wide.
We strongly recommend you to get there by car as it will be much easier to visit different areas of the park as the entrance is far away from the interesting spots. In addition to this, you can’t reach some spots directly by car, you have to drive to a parking lot and then either walk or take a bus. Another option is going by boat.
The price of the tickets depends on the season you go and the kind of vehicle you take. For example, in high season a normal ticket + car is 14€ + 7€. Students have interesting discounts. You can have a closer look here.
Among the most interesting spots you can find the lake Mir, the interpretation center and the cliffs Stene.
Lake Mir
This is the most popular spot. It 's located here. The unusually high salt concentration will make you feel lighter and float effortless. You can’t directly go to the lake by car. You have to leave it in this parking lot and then take one of the buses that will bring you right by the lake. Otherwise you will have to walk 20 minutes from the parking lot to get there.
Interpretation center
It’s located here. You will have breathtaking views of the bay and the islets from the viewpoint. There you will also find explanations about the natural and cultural value of the park.
Stene Cliffs
They are the most prominent cliffs of the Adriatic, 161 m above the sea and with a maximum depth of 85 m underwater. They are located next to the lake, specifically here. Along the cliff there is a very interesting hike with several viewpoints. The views of the cliffs are amazing and the path is beautiful, but you will not be able to see the cliffs, the lake and the islets all together unless you have a drone.
In addition to the hikes, you can rent a kayak, a paddle board or do scuba diving near the cliffs.
Telašćica is a protected area for birds. You can spot some Peregrine or Eleonora's falcons.
It’s a very spectacular place and of course it’s a must if you are on the island. The view on the bay is out of this world.
