The natural pools of La Fajana are a set of three natural pools adapted with the construction of walls, stairs, and walkways. It's an ideal spot for a relaxing swim in a place sheltered from the waves.
How to get there
It’s located in the northeast of the island, a 40-minute drive from Santa Cruz de La Palma. The roads are in good condition, so getting there shouldn't pose any problem. The parking area is spacious and free.
La Fajana natural pools
The natural pools are deep, and in some areas, you won’t be able to touch the bottom. There are two smaller pools and a third, much larger one. This larger pool is more exposed to the ocean, and on days with strong waves and high tide, waves may enter the pool, so you should be cautious. Despite the rocky ground, it’s not necessary to wear water shoes.
There are rocky areas around the pools where you can lay your towel. The site offers several umbrellas scattered along this zone, though they are typically taken. Additionally, there's a shaded area built into the rock wall right next to the pools that provides more shade.
These pools are quite popular. Due to the easy access and their protection from the waves, on the weekends you'll find many families with children. There are restrooms, changing rooms, showers, and even a lookout point. In the upper area, there’s a small kiosk where you can grab a drink or a snack. You’ll also find a restaurant offering more elaborate dishes (here).
Nearby
In the surroundings, you will find other natural pools similar to these. These are El Charco Azul, and they are only a 15-minute drive away.
They're nice, but not a must-see. If you're looking to cool off in a protected spot, they're a good option.
