Dinh Cau is a beautiful temple on a rocky promontory on the west side of the island of Phu Quoc, next to the Bach Dang Park harbor and the Dinh Ba Thuy Long Thanh Mau Temple. The temple offers excellent views of the sea and fishing boatsand is especially renowned for its picturesque sunsets.
If you arrive by scooter, you can leave it anywhere around the temple. You will see many scooters parked on the sidewalks.
It was built at the beginning of the 18th century by local fishermen. It’s a sacred place for them as they visit it and ask for protection and luck on their daily chores. At the entrance of the temple, there is a big rock with an ancient Chinese inscription that dates back to 1937. It asks for blessing and protection for sailors.
In the interior you will find some statues and figures of Buddha. You can also see locals burning incense and making offerings.
You can explore the temple and its surroundings in 10 minutes. The sunset from the temple is worth it.
The temple’s location provides picturesque views of the harbor and the ocean. If you are around it’s a quick and beautiful stop.
