El Salto: Tarzan Rope Swing - Arenal
Arenal, Costa Rica
At the Fortuna River, there is a swimming spot with several waterfalls and a Tarzan rope swing that you can use to jump into a natural swimming pool… for freeIt’s located on the side of 702’s road, 2 km from La Fortuna.
You can leave the car at the location I mentioned below. Roads are good, you can make it even with a Fiat Punto. From this point you will have to walk for 2 minutes to reach the swimming area.
A rope attached to a tree overhanging the river allows you to swing and jump into it. It’s more or less 3 m high. This part of the river is quite deep, but there are no currents so don’t worry. You can also jump from the top of the small waterfalls.
It’s free, and as a result, crowdedThere are no benches, tables, chairs or lookalikes. Normally, people sit on the rocks around the river.
There are a couple of kiosks on the side of the road where you can buy some coconuts or chicken/pork skews among others.
It’s one of the few locations where you are freely allowed to swim in Costa Rica. At least, known by foreigners. If you have any other suggestions, write it down in the comments ;)
The place is nice, but try to avoid Sundays at midday.
