Viewpoint, tunnels and recreation area of Las Mimbreras - La Palma

How to get there

All three are located very close to each other on the LP-109 road, in the northern part of the island, about 55 minutes by car from Santa Cruz de La Palma. The LP-109 is a bit narrow and winding through a forest, but if you take it slow, it shouldn’t be a problem, and the drive itself is actually quite enjoyable.

Las Mimbreras viewpoint

Las Mimbreras viewpoint offers panoramic views of the island’s northern landscape, showcasing the slopes covered in native vegetation, the Atlantic Ocean, and several small villages in the Garafía and Barlovento areas. You can park right at the viewpoint, but there’s only room for 3-4 cars. Location.

Las Mimbreras recreation area

The recreation area has several wooden tables and benches, a potable water fountain, barbecue huts, sinks, and restrooms. It is fully surrounded by laurisilva forest, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. There are several parking spaces along the road. Location.

Las Mimbreras tunnels

The tunnels are known for their rudimentary characteristics, as many were dug directly into the rock without any lining. They are surrounded by vegetation and have no artificial lighting. The road narrows quite a bit in this section, making the drive through this area feel rather unique. Location.

These spots are not very frequented. While the viewpoint itself isn’t particularly special, both the recreation area and the tunnels have a certain charm due to their complete immersion in nature.
