Las Chorreras waterfall is located in Hacienda Guachipelin resort, in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. You have free access to the waterfall if you are a guest of the hotel, otherwise, you will have to pay 27$/p to access the waterfall (there are “guardians” at the waterfall).
Roads are good, you can reach the resort even with a Fiat Punto. You can leave the car at the hotel and hike 30 minutes to the waterfall (the path is well indicated). You can’t reach the waterfall directly by car.
It’s a twin waterfall that creates a natural sky blue pool below it. The water is sky blue because of the volcanic activity. Right at the waterfall, two rivers converge at the same point, one of them with notorious cold water flowing through a very beautiful small canyon.
Once you are there, you will have some spots where you can rest (there is shade)
You can also have a horse tour to the waterfall (additional price).
You might spot toucans and a wide variety of insects around the waterfall, such as dragonflies or beetles.
The waterfall is beautiful and it’s a pity that you need to be a guest of the resort to enjoy it for free.
Comment if you have any question!
Can I hike to Las Chorreras with a dog on leash?
Hi Amanda,
Absolutely, the trail is very flat. In the rain season it might be muddy though.
Thanks for your comment, enjoy!
