The Myzithres viewpoint, located on the southwest coast of Zakynthos, is one of the most impressive and iconic places on the island. It offers panoramic views of the rock formations emerging from the sea, which, combined with the light blue color of the water due to the minerals, make it one of the most photographed places on the island.
How to get there
The viewpoint is located on the southern coast of Zakynthos, about a 35-minute drive from Zakynthos town. The roads are perfectly paved; however, as you get closer to the destination, they become narrower. The last section is a dirt road, but you can make it even with a Fiat Punto.
You can park in the bar's parking lot (here, in exchange for a purchase) or on the sides of the dirt road (here). From here, it will take you about 10 minutes to reach the viewpoint. We don’t recommend you to get to the end with the car.
Myzithres viewpoint
The popular viewpoint is located here. The views of the landscape are incredible, with several ledges around it to see the landscape and the beach from different perspectives (always from above the beach). A quite popular place to take photos is on the left (here).
We recommend going on a sunny day since the bright color of the water will be even more striking. It is also a good place to watch the sunset.
You should keep in mind that there is nothing to protect you. The cliff is a completely vertical 200-meter drop.
If you want to have a side view, you can visit some of the nearby restaurants (for example, this one, here). However, you must order something to be allowed to take a photo from the terrace. Also, these restaurants are only open during the summer season.
In the parking lot of one of the restaurants, there is a pole with a giant Greek flag (here). However, you will only find it during the high season, and depending on the day, it might not be hoisted.
Bear in mind that the beach is not accessible from anywhere on land. The only way to access it is through a boat excursion from the south.
There are a lot of impressive caves that cross the headland. We recommend visiting them on a boat tour from the south of the island. More info:
