Klesidi is a trent gravel beach that is hidden between rocky walls and might go unnoticed by inattentive vacationers that visit the two surrounding (and more popular) beaches, Amoudi Beach and Damnoni Beach.

It’s located at the south part of Crete, 4 km away from Plakias and 35 km from Rethymno. Roads are good so you can make it even with a Fiat Punto. There is a small area where you can leave the car. The access to the beach is not easy. You will have to go down through the rocks on the right side.

As we have said before, it’s not a fine grained sand beach. Water is turquoise and has a special bright color when the sun hits it. There is a 2-meters-long underwater tunnel (2 meters deep) that connects the beach with Mikro Ammoudi on the right side. Watch out for the currents and waves.

The rocky walls on both sides of the beach will provide you with some shade as long as it’s not the central hours of the day. In addition to this, in the rear wall there is a crevice that creates a small cave.

You can do cliff-diving from different heights (2-6 m), it’s deep enough.

It’s not very very busy, but since it’s very small, in summer it can get crowded. There are no sunbeds nor umbrellas and nudism is not unusual.

There is a beach bar at the beach next to Klisidi (Mikro Amoudi) where you can get some snacks and drinks. In the other beach, Amoudi, there is a food truck (quite good btw).

You can find free toilets next to the parking lot

Around Klisidi, you can find other nice beaches such as Ammoudi, Mikro Ammoudi and Damnoni. You can also go up the hill (about 15 minutes walking) right behind the beaches and visit the small church on the top. It was built by a man in dedication to his 12 year old son who died from cancer.
